Hidden Gemz: Anderson Co

Anderson Co.’s Soundcloud is loaded with a diverse mix of tracks.

A top track that I vibes to was “Hey Bae.” Anderson gives you rhymes, high hats, that bass, and sweet lyrics that make you grin as you think about your boo. I dig Anderson Co. and his authenticity.

After a lovely instant message chat with Anderson Co about their inspiration in the music realm, we got some info on where they started and where they hope to go with their music passion. First of all, if you dig the vocals on Anderson’s projects, you’d be surprised to find that the vocals are his own! Along with the tailored piano, beatbox, and other engineered beats. Some of his inspirations are similar to his tunes like the likes of Kaytranada and FKJ (Fresh Kiwi Juice). The sounds of jazz, hip-hip, disco, funk, soul, and R&B.

His latest album “Emotions” serves up all the feels, of love, doubt, fate, and just giving you those good vibes. Take journey with me track to track below:

“Circlin’ ”: Starts off the project with this “Butterfly Effects” by Travis Scott flashback. Anderson’s use of electric keyboard, flute, adlibs, and this eerie dark tone that lingers towards the ends f the track. Anderson gives us some spit on this banger of his. He is humorous with his raps, but you can tell he lays them down skillfully.

“Isn’t She Lovely (Anderson Co Flip)”: Anderson Co. takes a soulful Motown love track instrumental and well, flips it! He remasters this track, giving you that same groovy feel, with some new, special spices, and flavor. Well listening to this tune, I couldn’t not help but bob my head, sway from side to side, and go into a soulful trance.

“Getting to you: OH! Wow, this tune was so lovely. Anderson adversities his vocals, singing, and serving up some raps. Anderson gives you some tips with the honeys. A vivid love story about a crush that don’t get the hint. He takes out all the stops during the presence of the last chorus repeat. Everything is amp’ed up! By far, my favorite track off of “Emotions”.

That brings us to the track “Emotions”: This tune is the album title, and it brings all the glorious talents of Anderson Co together. Mellow beats, piano, soulful filled love lyrics, harmonizing, and mesmerizing chorus.

“You just need my love (what can I do?)”: Reminiscent of a Steve Lacy or Rex Orange County love tune.

“Running Away” and “Bright Light”: Both bring you songs to get up and move to. I will say “Bright Light” does bring the listener indie disco vibe and smooth lyrics.

“Suede”: Is another personal favorite. I heard this song after dealing with some unemployment stressful madness, and it was just the tune I needed to hear. It is a heaven sent song, so uplifting! Anderson starts off with these lyrics that caught me:

There’s no reason to be afraid, come talk to God he’ll make you feel great

You’ll be smooth as hell just like a suede

Then he goes off to a rap giving his listeners advice on how to stay up, be patient, meditate, take a breathe. I think the second verse when he comes back in after the chorus really brings the song together:

Why won’t you talk God and tell him what’s the prob

He’ll take you to the top, he’ll tell you when to stop

The album has many of the elements of groove, lovely lyrics, excellent rhymes, piano melodies, and catchy chorus.

I could see the homies and I on a foggy day at the beach, with the album playing in the background. Or getting close to my boo as we share a picnic under a tree on a sunny day at the park.

Tune in to Anderson Co through their SoundCloud and YouTube, stay tuned cause they got another project in the works.
