Lately I have been on a Grentea Peng binge. With their new single “Nah it ain’t the same” popping up has drove me back into my obsession with the r&b, reggae, neo-soul goddess.

First introduction to Greentea was through a Colors performance for their single “Downers”. The South East Londoner has had a lust for music since the age of 17. After a trip to Mexico, Peng came back to London and partnered up with her new producer, Earbuds. Together they created Peng’s first EP, Sensi (released October 2018).

Mister Sun (miss da sun) & that Colors performance gained Greentea the traction and recognition for the follow up EP, Rising. Rising put Greentea Peng right where she needed for her music career to expand.

Peng’s lyrics are catchy, wise, and contagiously soulful. When I her mix-matched vocals with the psychedelic R&B production, I feel cleansed, uplifted, and calmed by the swaying groove of her tunes. Their visuals are always on point too!

For a first time listener I’d advise you to start with Greentea Peng’s newest single “Nah it ain’t the same” and trail into “Revolution” and “Hu man”. These tracks are quite relative and timely to all the feels of our global health crisis, political climate, while trying to grasp onto a spiritual means.

Greentea Peng’s has yet to release her debut album, but there is talk that we may not have to wait too long! Look out for pending dates for the release of MAN MADE.
